Nike Air Zoom Mercurial Superfly IX Elite FG

Be faster when it matters wearing Nike Air Zoom Mercurial Superfly 9 Elite FG soccer cleats in Pink Foam/Black, featuring a springy Zoom Air unit built specifically for soccer.
That’s right, Zoom Air: flip the cleat upside down for a look at the specially developed forefoot airbag in all its articulated glory. When you push off or change direction, it flexes with your foot and returns energy to propel you into action, working with tri-star cleats to enable the dynamic moves that make the difference in the final third. It’s not just the soleplate that’s faster than ever. Every aspect of the Vaporposite+ upper has been optimized for speed. Ventilated Flyknit and a cut-out Speed Cage lining combine to provide lightweight, flexible support, and the outer layer features chevron texturing, engineered to give a natural, tactile feel on the ball when dribbling at pace. For comfort, the seams at the ankle are offset to relieve pressure on the Achilles, while the refined central lacing system accommodates a wider range of foot shapes and allows easy entry to get you game-ready in no time. Now that’s fast.

      Cleat Class - Elite

The best of the best. Elite soccer cleats are the cleats professional players wear on-field, made using the highest quality materials and featuring the latest technologies and innovations. The premium option for players who demand the best possible performance from their cleats.

      Mercurial Superfly

Destroying defenses since 1998, the all-conquering Nike Mercurial is the Swoosh’s flagship speed cleat.

It began with the prime example of explosive pace: R9, Ronaldo. His OG signature cleat, the Nike Mercurial R9, was created to make him – and anyone else that wore it – faster. Its lightweight, synthetic construction set the trend for cleat design, and the same superfast concept lives on in today’s modern Mercs.

From the iconic Vapor I to the gamechanging Superfly IV and the much sought-after Vapor Flyknit Ultra, the Mercurial series counts some of the most popular cleats of all time among its ranks. They’ve been worn by some of the world’s best players, too, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Eden Hazard, Ada Hegerberg, and Didier Drogba joining R9 in the Mercurial hall of fame.

If you’re new to the Mercurial, here’s the vital thing to know: there are now two main variations. The Vapor, which is a low-cut cleat, and the Superfly, which has an ankle collar. Some players prefer the more traditional, streamlined fit of the Vapor, while others appreciate the additional support and sock-like feel provided by the Superfly. It’s a personal choice.

Nike tend to debut their most cutting-edge tech in the Merc, so whichever you choose, if you want the fastest cleats with a Swoosh that money can buy, you’re in the right place.

      Nike

Nike’s mission is “to bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world”. For decades, their cleats have done exactly that, being seen on the feet of amateur and professional players alike, all around the globe.

Starting with “The Nike” back in 1970, the Swoosh’s designs have always led the way when it comes to combining style and performance.

Their modern range includes the ever-popular Mercurial for speed, as worn by the legend that is Cristiano Ronaldo, along with the touch-focused Phantom GT. Or, if you prefer a classic cleat, the more traditional Tiempo and Premier are your go-to options.

Nike offer cleats for all types of surface and levels of play, including their exclusive Anti-Clog editions with soleplates designed specifically for wet, muddy pitches.

      Great Boots

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just finished my first game sporting my new pair of Superfly boots. Honestly, I was a little hesitant with how the ankle support was going to feel, but I was pleasantly surprised! The fit was a little tight, but should loosen up a bit as they get worn in. These are very comfortable and provide great support. I’ve played soccer for over 30 years, and have worn many different boots, and these are some of the most comfortable yet. The studs are in good positioning, and the outsole has a great feel on the ball. The color is really sharp, and I’ve gotten a lot of compliments from my teammates. Looking forward to breaking these in even more.

      Comfortable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The fit was nice and comfortable indoor and outdoor and feel of this shoe was comfortable and a little tight around the ankle and has good protection when playing and very durable. The design of this shoe is really nice and sleek. I love the all black and neon green on the bottom of the show. While the shoe was comfortable I would not wear it all day due to the tightness at the ankle. What I liked most about the shoe was the colors and how I feel protected while wearing and comfortable to wear. I would change the tightness at the ankle but it is also good for protection so in actually it is good but starts bothering after a while.

      Blister problems

I am not really sure if I got a defective pair or what but I am a religious nike wearer for cleats and I’ve never had blisters as bad as the ones with these boots. The heel is so pointy and stiff that I’ve had blisters for the past 4 months and I never had a chance to return them because I was thinking I’d stop getting blisters after a few weeks. I had to buy new boots because it hurt so bad, especially when I was making cuts. Two of my friends also had these boots and had to return them because they were having awful blisters in the heel. Would be great boots if it wasn’t for the heel problem, comfortable and thin.

      Too narrow

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While I love the look of these Nike Zoom Superfly 9 Elite FG cleats, they simply don't fit. They are definitely well made - they're lightweight, but don't feel cheap, and they are put together nicely and are flashy but not obnoxious. For someone with much narrower feet, they would probably be great. For me, with my pretty wide feet, I couldn't even get them on. I typically wear a standard width 13 no problem, but there is no way I could squeeze into these. So, while they're a great looking and (by appearances and reputation) well put together shoe, beware if you have wide feet as they probably won't fit.

Heel Cracking Issue Plagues Otherwise Comfortable Cleats

      Miguel

The standout features of these cleats are undoubtedly the Zoom Air unit and the excellent grip, which contribute to their overall comfort. However, there is a notable downside - the studs on the heel tend to develop cracks within just 1-2 months of regular use. The sole plates of these cleats appear to have a manufacturing issue, as my brother recently bought a pair of Mbappe's cleats, and they have already started to show signs of cracking. I kindly urge Nike to consider upgrading the sole plates, incorporating a more robust and durable material. It seems that the current plastic used is not up to the task, and an improvement in this area would greatly benefit the overall quality of the cleats.

      Great affordable cleats

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It was my Christmas gift before the soccer season in New England. The design is minimal and can go with any team uniform, the only neon color on the black shoes is on the sole. There is a knit sock opening that looked extremely small to me, but it stretches well and goes back to the shape around your ankle right away. No need for laces! It comes with a matching sack-backpack. The only reason I give it 4 stars is the sizing, it runs a bit small, I have US 13 size, so it is hard to find my size anyways, would love to have a little more room for the thicker socks.

      Zoom Superfly 9 Elite Fg

      Corbs

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Zoom Superfly 9 Elite Fg were a very comfortable cleat to wear. As a regular soccer player, I have used many different pairs of cleats. The sock material at the top of the cleat fits great. Is it tight enough to prevent any black crumb from turf fields getting into the cleat, but not too tight that prevents the blood flow to the ankle. The black on black design looks very slick and is in line with the modern trends of soccer cleats. The innersole is padded well so you cannot feel any discomfort on from the studs on the soles of your feet. The length of the sizing is just right, but they do run a little narrow, so I wouldn't recommend these cleats to players with wide feet. Perfect for players who have average to narrow size feet.

      Rough break-in process

While the fit of the cleat has been exactly as expected (I know these historically run small as it’s my third pair, I’m a size 10.5 and go up to 11 for the cleat), I am disappointed with them so far. I have been having persistent heel pain due to wearing them for the past 5 months and nothing has seemed to change with all attempts to break them in. They fixed the flaw in my last pair that I got in 2019 but appear to have a new flaw. Not sure if this issue is specific to just me, but it has been a huge annoyance in my time with the cleats.

      Ground Type Guide

Selecting the correct sole plate for the surface you are playing on is crucial, not only for the performance and longevity of your cleats, but also to avoid the risk of injury.

Using an outsole that isn't designed specifically for the surface on which you are playing may cause premature wear and/or damage that will not be deemed as a fault of manufacture and will prevent the retailer accepting them for a refund or exchange.

      Firm Ground

Cleats with Firm Ground soleplates are only to be used on natural short-grass surfaces that is firm underfoot but may be slightly wet.

Designed specifically for this playing surface, they offer acceleration, comfort and enhanced traction, dispersing stud pressure evenly across the foot.

FG soleplates are fixed (not removable) and are used worldwide; wetter countries tend to use them spring to autumn.

FG cleats are not to be used on artificial ground (AG) surfaces as the construction is not designed for the extra friction.

FG cleats used on AG surfaces will invalidate the manufacturer’s warranty.
